How many of you guys have to throw away fruits and veggies by the end of the week?
When I was younger I wasted so much food. I never had a budget on my groceries so it never really bothered me. Now that I stay home with my boys and I budget everything just so. I knew I had to make some changes.
I plan exactly what we are going to eat for every meal. This might seem time-consuming for many but this can help you save money as well. Most veggies can be used for two meals. Example, If I were to buy cabbage I would use half for stir fry and the other half to make a cabbage soup in the same week.
I might not want to eat exactly what I planned an that’s okay. If I decide to not eat something I usually freeze it. I mean you can honestly freeze anything. Which I really never knew before. If I end up accumulating lots of frozen fruits and veggies then we use them for smoothies
When I have meat that expires that day I freeze it or I make the food ahead of time. Then I freeze it for another day or put in the fridge for the next day.
There is nothing more annoying to me when food is wasted. I think this is why it drives me crazy when my children don’t eat food and it’s wasted. Even though when they are trying something new I only give them just a little at first. Let me know when your food is wasted the most. From your children or from you not preparing it? Love ya, Mary xoxo
