OMG!! I’ve have been super busy today!! We have been going all day. It really has been a long time for my boys and I to get out of the house and have some fun. We started off with the boring stuff….grocery shopping, hardware store, and pool supply store.
Do you love spring cleaning or dread it? I’m kind of in between, it takes me a long time to get motivated but once I start I go all in.
Okay, here is a list of my pet peeves along with other moms I know. You might need to print this out and leave it so your husband or older children can find it. I would love to hear one of the pet peeves you have.
I worked with children for 15 years and I loved every minute of it. The parents would call me the potty training queen. I know working parents don’t have the time or the energy to deal with potty training. They need a little help to get them started.Continue reading “Potty Training 101”
How many of you guys have to throw away fruits and veggies by the end of the week? Lets stop wasting food today!
My mother was very good at giving us a birthday party when we were growing up. I love how she always pick a theme and followed it to a T. Between my parties, my nieces, nephews, and my boys I’m going to give you lots of birthday ideas.
And How To Get Them To Sleep!
Sleep is so important for your children. We all need good sleep that we don’t always get. Sometimes we don’t pick up on these undesirable actions as a sleep issue. We usually blame it on our hectic schedule, and leave it at that. Not listening, acting out, not able to focus, feeling cranky, and irritable are all possible signs of your child needing more rest. We as adults can all relate to this. (haha) Here are some tips on what you can do to help recognize when your child doesn’t get enough sleep.Continue reading “Tips On Recognizing Sleepy Kids”
How many have you heard, “I’m so hungry” two minutes after everyone just ate? I hear this quite a bit and I can’t stand it. I feed my kids very well, I give them hot meals and snacks in between. Are they bored? Are they really thirsty?
When my kids tell me they are hungry right before or after a big meal it really gets me thinking. Why are they saying this? If we were staying active that day they would not even ask me to eat anything.
I watched children for fifteen years before my own and I watched what triggered them. If they passed by a fast-food restaurant, they’re thirsty, they’re trying to get out of something, or they’re just bored.
My family has a history of obesity, and I don’t want my kids to have to deal with it. I have completely changed the way I eat and what my children eat. When I was in elementary school, I was overweight and finally, as an adult I realized what is important.
What triggered me to eat was just being bored, feeling thirsty, or stress. My mother was very good at trying to keep us healthy and eat well. Only she was that person that would go through a drive-thru to get a drink because it was convenient. So growing up I noticed her making it a habit so of course, I was picking up on those bad habits as well.
A friend had told me that when her kids get to bed they always come down saying they are hungry and need a snack. How many of your children have a late-night snack? When I was growing up we never had desserts after dinner. So when I got married and saw my husband having a bowl of cereal every night (even after a big dinner), I made it a habit as well. Completely getting myself into an unhealthy weight.
If we as adults can cut out our bad habits then our children will not pick up on them.
My kids eat breakfast around 8 then, lunch at 11 a snack around 2:30 then, dinner at 5:30. Sometimes they will have a morning snack if I’m planning to have a later lunch. When they tell me they are hungry in between I tell them to drink some water. If they are still hungry and can’t wait then they can pick a fresh fruit or veggie.
When they tell me they are hungry…
- they are trying to get out of something
- they’re thirsty
- they’re schedule is off
- they are bored
- if they see food advertisement
Sometimes it is easier to just hand them a snack and say “oh they are growing”. But keep an eye out to see if there is something that might be triggering them. Teaching our kids healthy eating habits is very important. I’m not saying my kids don’t get desserts or treats. They love them, I just don’t buy them and then they don’t think about it. Out of sight, out of mind.
*Try to grocery shop without the kids or avoid the junk food aisle.
Let me know what you think of this. I know many might not agree with me and that’s okay but I’m just saying find out what’s triggering them. Tip- If you are planning to be out and about for the day bring healthy snacks. Love ya, Mary xoxo

At first, when I found out my second baby wasn’t a girl I was a little disappointed. I wanted to have the little girl to go shopping with, get our nails painted and play with Barbies. But now I’m truly blessed I had boys. All that girly stuff I’ve done before now it’s time to play with all boy stuff. Hehe It can be hard some times to connect with my boys but when we get together we have so much fun. It wasn’t always that easy for us to connect until now. I’m going to let you know 16 cheap little dates you can go on to help connect more with your son(s).Continue reading “16 Mommy and Son Date Ideas”
